SENYUMAN AUTISME: KOMUNITI PRIHATIN, KELUARGA SEJAHTERA 2025

Conversations around autism have grown louder in recent years. However, while more people today are familiar with the term, many remain uncertain about what autism truly means or how to respond to it in real-life settings. This gap in understanding continues to contribute to the slow progress of autism acceptance and understanding in Malaysia, particularly at the community level.

According to the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM), an estimated 9,000 children are born with autism in Malaysia each year. This growing number highlights the importance of early awareness, timely intervention, and continuous support for children with autism and their families.

Through collaboration with Pertubuhan Hal Ehwal Wanita & Keluarga Malaysia (HAWA), we managed to conduct Senyuman Autisme: Komuniti Prihatin, Keluarga Sejahtera that focused on a more inclusive and supportive environment for individuals with autism spectrum. The programme was held on 15 November 2025 at Sunshine Bertam Mall, Pulau Pinang.

The programme provides exposure, support, and safe engagement opportunities for children with autism, while also strengthening awareness among parents, educators, and the public.

By creating structured, sensory-friendly environments, the initiative enables children to explore, learn and express themselves with confidence and without judgement.
