KIA Malaysia Launches The All-New KIA Sorento And All-New Kia Sportage
KUALA LUMPUR May 25, 2016 – Naza Kia Malaysia, the official distributor of KIA vehicles in Malaysia, has launched the highly sought-after All-New Kia Sorento and All-New Kia Sportage.
The All-New Sorento and All-New Sportage are set to revolutionise the SUV-segment market. In line with KIA’s brand identity, the All-New Sorento and All-New Sportage’s target market are the go-getters who lead a confident and active lifestyle and thus need a vehicle to match it.
“The SUV segment of Malaysia’s market has been on an upswing since 2012. In just three years, the SUV segment has grown by 88.9%, with almost 59,000 units and an 8.8% market share. The evolutionary styling changes subtly alter the character of the All-New Sorento, highlighting its sleek and dynamic bodyline profile, thus creating a sophisticated continental appearance and ensuring the All-New Sorento has a bolder on-the-road presence. The face of the All-New Sorento incorporates projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights as well as a huge ‘tiger-nose’ grille, with a distinctive three-dimensional cubic mesh pattern. For the petrol premium variant, 19-inch chrome rims complete its muscular stance, available for the first time in a Kia.
The styling of the All-New Sorento’s cabin follows a ‘modern and wide’ theme, providing the interior with a stable, horizontal layout and appearance. The Petrol variant is powered by a Theta II 2.4 MPI engine with Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) which produces 171 PS and 222.6 Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The Diesel variant is equipped with an R 2.2 CRDi engine which produces 200 PS and 441.3 Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The front suspension is fitted with Macpherson Struts to improve ride quality while the rear suspension is fitted with a Multi-Link suspension which incorporates both superior ride and handling stability.
On and off paved roads, the innovative AWD coupling system helps the All-New Sorento maintain the utmost traction on rough, loose or slippery surfaces and helps improve lateral stability in cornering.
Occupants can expect class-leading safety features designed for maximum protection in all variants such as six airbags, vehicle stability management (VSM), electronic stability control (ESC), anti-lock brake system (ABS) and hill-start assist control (HAC) among many others. This high level of safety helped the All-New Sorento achieve five star ratings from Euro NCAP and NHTSA NCAP as well as was selected as IIHS’s Top Safety Pick.
The colours available range from Clear White, Aurora Black Pearl and Silky Silver.
